Unionize Positions (DC 1707, Local 205): 


Group Teacher- $42,000/yr (UPK Teacher), $29,000-$36,000/yr (Study Plan Group Teacher)
The Group Teacher supervises the planning and execution of a program to provide day care for children 2-4 years old, taking into account the educational, social, developmental and health needs of the group, as well as the individual child.  The Group Teacher will take responsibility for keeping the classroom environment including materials and equipment in good condition, will remove damaged/hazardous material, and will plan and conducting regular group conferences with classroom associates.  The program follows the creative curriculum and is a center-based, 12 month program. Requirements include:
·         Study Plan Group Teacher: Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education + Master’s study plan commitment required; UPK Teacher: Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education, Plus NYS Teacher Certification (Birth-Grade 2)
·         Completed or are in the process of obtaining the Child Development Associate (CDA) credential if degree is not concentrated in early childhood education.
·         Two years experience working in a group setting with children
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
  • First Aid and CPR trainings required and recertified as needed
 
Assistant Teacher- $12.24-$13.75/hour
The Assistant Teacher works closely with the group teacher to plan and execute the program, and will step in for the Group Teacher as needed. Requirements include:
·         Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education required; Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education preferred
·         OR High School Diploma + CDA/in the process of obtaining the CDA (Child Development Associate) credential.
·         Prior experience working with children
 
Teacher’s Aide- $11.53/hour
The Teacher’s Aide works part time and provides support to both the Group Teacher and Assistant Teacher. Requirements include:
•             High School Diploma or GED required
•             Completed or are in the process of obtaining the Child Development Associate (CDA) credential
•             Prior experience working with children
 
Positions are available in our Bronx, Manhattan, Corona (Queens) and Brooklyn Day Care Centers
