Requirements & Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Master’s degree in related field.
- Minimum one year of experience as Special Education Teacher in an Affective Needs, Center-Based, or equivalent classroom/school.
- Experience working within a facility school program or equivalent strongly preferred.
- Colorado Initial or Professional Teacher License with Special Education Generalist (5-21) endorsement.
- Must be able to pass a Physical and TB test
- Must be able to obtain QMAP, CPR and First Aid Certifications within the first 60 days of employment.
- Must be able to complete Therapeutic Crisis Intervention training within 6 months of employment
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
- Ability to work with severely mentally ill children.
- Ability to work with culturally diverse population.
- Ability to work with multidisciplinary team.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Good organizational and administrative skills
Work Location: 3401 Eudora St. Denver, CO 80207
Shift/Hours: This is a Monday-Friday opportunity from 8am to 4:30pm
Permanent year-round position. Teachers are actively working August – May only but have the opportunity to work additional hours in June and July (pending Skyline’s needs).
Typical Physical Demans:
- Walking (daily)
- Standing
- Playing with children in the gym or outdoors during recess/P.E. (1-2x/week)
- Performing physical restraints (requires bearing student’s weight, sitting or kneeling on the ground, and laying on the ground) (frequency varies greatly)
