Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities (including but not limited to the following)
- Maintain professional appearance, attire, and demeanor at all times.
- Plan, prepare and deliver instruction in accordance with the ABLE instructional model and best practices.
- Combine the best practices of direct instruction, the full force of the Internet as an instructional resource, and the adopted digital curriculum to create powerful and engaging learning environments.
- Identify and apply appropriate instructional resources and strategies to meet students’ individual needs.
- Become proficient in the use of all ABLE-related operating systems and digital programs.
- Design appropriate assessments.
- Analyze and interpret data to inform planning and instruction.
- Work collaboratively and collegially with the ABLE faculty and staff on behalf of students and for the betterment of the program.
- Completely and efficiently perform the administrative functions associated with teaching.
- Employ best practices for classroom and behavior management.
- Manage instructional and non-instructional time purposefully and effectively.
- Provide regular and ongoing feedback about students’ academic progress to students and parents.
- Provide appropriate support to students including but not limited to observing their health and social development; counseling, advising, and assisting with challenges; and encouraging their success.
- Participate in extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs and student organizations.
- Participate in a continuous cycle of reflection, self-evaluation, and renewal.
- Keep current with developments in subject area, teaching resources and methods, and technology and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities.
- Serve as Educational Mentor for assigned students by providing immediate oversight over students’ schedules and academic progress, a liaison between the students and all appropriate and applicable school processes, and a regular communications bridge between the school and the students’ families.
- Perform services in accordance with and as required by applicable state and federal laws as well as by board rules, regulations, policies, or directives.
