Job Description:

Seeking a collaborative and supportive individual with a passion for improving the lives of children and families for a full-time Family Support Coordinator position. This position will require travel to 4 Head Start locations in Chicagoland and will be located at our Bridgeport center.

JOB SUMMARY

The Family Support Coordinator will provide support and technical assistance to four Early/Head Start program locations and their Family Support Staff by:

  • Conducting bi-monthly site visits.
  • Supporting family partnerships and engagement.
  • Collaborating and providing community and health resources.
  • Maintaining Eligibility, Recruitment, Selection, Enrollment and Attendance (ERSEA).
  • Providing training, mentoring, monitoring and reporting in support of best practices.
  • Conducting regular meetings with the Family Support Staff to share resources and to network.
  • Developing service plans to support the implementation of Head Start Performance Standards.
  • Advocating for the needs of children and families and assisting in the implementation of the Strengthening Families model.

 

Job Requirements:

JOB REQUIREMENTS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Education

Associate’s degree in Social Services, Psychology, Counseling, Child Development or a related field required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Experience

A minimum of 2 years professional experience working with families.

Required Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to maintain confidential information and materials
  • Ability to stay current on developments in early learning field to enhance professional growth
  • Must be able to develop and maintain professional and positive relationships with families, children and colleagues
  • Must be able to work as a team with program leaders, funders and direct service staff
  • Working knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards and Child Plus Database
  • Knowledge of Child Care (Illinois Department of Human Services) and Head Start Eligibility requirements preferred
  • Ability to travel up to 20% to various Early/Head Start sites
  • Have access to a reliable vehicle and meet all agency requirements related to driving record and insurance
