Education: Classroom Teaching level3

The Conservatory of Vocal/Instrumental Arts (COVA) is an academically high performing music/performing arts charter school located in Oakland, California. COVA consists of 250 students in grades K - 8. We are seeking an experienced 3rd grade teacher to start in the current school year. Candidates must have excellent class organization and management skills. 

 

Job Requirements:
CA Mulitiple subjects credential (or out-of-state credential with California reciprocity), letter of interest and teaching experience, resume or vitae (email these to vabad@covaconservatory.org). Experience in grades 1 - 5.

Musical or performing arts experience preferred.  Strong curriculum background. Second language a plus. Excellent classroom and student management required. Knowledge of "Teach Like a Champion" by Doug Lamov helpful.  

Work Description:
COVA teachers teach CORE academics (ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies) from 8am - 2pm, then teach a performing arts, art, or physical art classes (yoga, Tai Chi, Karate, dance, gymnastics,etc.).  from 2 - 4pm, preparation periods are scheduled in the morning and afternoons.
