Organization Summary: Prep for Prep is an education and leadership development program that creates ethical and effective leaders who reflect our diverse society. Prep identifies New York City’s most promising students of color, prepares them for success at the nation's top independent schools throughout the Northeast, and supports their academic and personal growth through college graduation. Today, over 5,000 students and alumni in the Prep for Prep Community are leaders in every field imaginable.
Openings: Prep for Prep and PREP 9 seek Teaching Assistants for their virtual and in-person 7-week Summer Preparatory Programs.
Responsibilities:
- Assist Humanities teachers in the Summer Session of the Preparatory Component (classes in session June 28 to August 11, 2023), including assisting individual students, preparing and correcting quizzes, and keeping attendance.
- Assist with the general needs of the program, including tutoring students, supervising students during lunch and recreation.
Requirements:
- Studying towards a BA at a selective college, current Freshman, Sophomore, or Junior
- Strong academic background in English or a closely related subject (History, Politics, or Sociology for Problems and Issues in Modern American Society (PIMAS) position)
- Energetic, well-organized, and willing to pitch in
- Ability to relate to highly motivated students of color
Compensation: $16.50 – $20.00 per hour/ depending on experience
