Job Description:

Tampa Bay International School, an independent K-8 Spanish immersion school, seeks a bilingual (Spanish/English) teacher to instruct students, primarily in grades K-1.
 
Tampa Bay International School uses a dual language program in which Spanish and English instruction are divided equally in the primary grades. The desired applicant should be comfortable working with multi-age groups of children in a non-traditional school environment and able to teach academic content in both Spanish and English.
 
The ideal applicant will:

· be able to differentiate instruction to effectively teach students of different ability levels; sometimes managing more than one reading or math group during a class period.

Job Requirements:

Start Date: August 8, 2022

End Date: June 2, 2023

Work Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:15 AM - 4:15 PM; one day per week may require staying until 5:-00 PM - 5:30 PM; 170 total school days in addition to planning, conference, and teacher in-service days.

  • Instruct students in all subject matter, including reading, writing, math, science and social studies
  • Effectively plan lessons on a daily basis in all subject matter, both individually and with colleagues
  • Assess students using a variety of tools
  • Assist in supervision of children during lunch, recess, and before and after the school day
  • Communicate with parents regarding children’s academic performance and social- emotional well-being
  • Prepare written progress reports to parents and caregivers four times per school year
  • Attend weekly faculty meetings
  • Attend conferences (two scheduled per student per school year) with parents and children to discuss student progress; attend other meetings with parents as needed
  • Occasionally assist with outreach on behalf of school to Tampa Bay community, through attendance at up to two school events held outside school hours
  • Sometimes work outdoors; position requires ability to move freely about campus and occasionally carry and move furniture and equipment which may weigh 10-20 pounds
