Job Description:

The SEED School of Los Angeles County is seeking a Founding Math Teacher. In this role, the teacher will plan, organize and implement an appropriate personalized instructional program in a learning environment that guides, supports, and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. This position will also collaborate
with other instructional staff, school personnel, and SEED LA’s senior leadership team to help advance SEED’s mission of supporting scholars to and through college completion.

Job Requirements:

  • Serve as Founding Math Teacher helping to build and implement the SEED LA culture - establishing new routines and structures to prepare students for college completion and beyond.
  • Teach SEED LA’s curriculum in dynamic, participation-oriented classes that focus on instruction and developing skills, not on rote memorization.
  • Demonstrate mathematical concepts using models, other available technology methods, and other standard or teacher-prepared instructional aids.
  • Examine student assessment data and evaluate each pupil’s progress in mathematical knowledge and skills to inform decision making and to guide and improve instruction
  •  Plan, organize, and deliver appropriate lessons for assigned area(s) of responsibility, and submit lesson plans to the Principal on an as-requested basis.
  • Design learning activities that will relate mathematics to the physical world.
  • Provide for an engaging school learning environment conducive to student success
  •  Differentiate instruction to reach all learners
  • Collaborate with fellow teachers on planning, professional development, and standards-based curriculum and common assessment design to contribute to the continuous improvement of instruction at the school
  • Assess students’ learning in a professional manner and communicate students’ progress to parents and fellow teachers to facilitate future instruction.
  • Identify special needs of students and seek additional support, as needed
  • Maintain and submit necessary records, progress reports, and grade reports
  • Participate in faculty meetings, workshops, staff development programs, and other school-sponsored activities
  • Assist in general building supervision and discipline of students outside of the classroom
  •  Adhere to the professional and ethical standards as outlined by SEED.
  • Other duties as assigned
