Company Description:

The Gray Academy for Exceptional Children with Neurological Disorders is a K-8, Non-Profit, Non-Public School certified by the California Department of Education located in Santa Monica, CA.  Our program has been specifically structured to help famlies meet the challenges that go beyond the classroom and treat the whole child.  Our unique curriculum and related services have been uniquely designed to provide both the high-level and complex special education and therapy needs of the students all in one location.  

Seeking Moderate to Severe SPED Teacher

Job Description:  
Roles and Responsibilities will include but are not limited to: 
• Planning and implementing specialized accommodations and modifications in California State curriculum for K-8 special education students 

• Teaching expanded use of communication supports 

• Blending Functional and social skill development to bridge access to modified curriculum. 

• Coordinating with service providers for seamless and purposeful learning.

• Instituting state and school requirements written in each students’ IEPs, at the physical, emotional and educational levels of development of each student 

• Maintaining individual pupil records, including quarterly progress notes for each student. 
• Conferring with parents, administrators, related service providers, and outside agencies as necessary or directed to develop and implement the individual educational program for student
• Collaborating and working closely with special education assistant teacher. 

• Maintaining a well-organized classroom and workspace to operate successfully. 
• Adapt purchased curriculum to meet the needs of each individual student
• Use information about individual students’ academic strengths, needs, and progress in planning. 
• Design activities to engage students in cognitively challenging work aligned to standards
• Work effectively with students, parents, staff members, and community representatives in providing a rigorous educational program
• Communicate with families to create a partnership around student learning by providing information about the instructional program and the progress of their child(ren) o Hold parent/student/teacher conferences in a manner consistent
• Continuing education as time allows.
