KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of current trends, research and best practices in the field of Second Language Acquisition, and the ability to apply the knowledge to instructional practices for English Learners (ELs) in the classroom. Skill in oral and written communication with students, families, faculty, staff and administration in written and oral form (including through electronic media) using positive interpersonal skills. Ability to coach teachers in the effective use of strategies across content areas and in differentiating instruction and assessment for ELs. Knowledge of second language acquisition theory and acculturation as it impacts the social and academic development of K-12 students. Knowledge of applicable laws, rules, policies and procedures. Ability to plan, organize and prioritize. Ability to implement and model best practices. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, teachers, and administrators.
