Full-time, Exempt, 10 months

The Upper School (grades 9-12) seeks candidates for a full-time, permanent Chemistry/AP Chemistry teaching position in our Science Department. We seek a dynamic, self-motivated, and multifaceted professional who possesses strong collaborative skills. The mission of the Upper School Science Department is to prepare students to investigate their world by developing scientific reasoning and problem-solving skills, through inquiry-based science immersion. The ideal candidate will support the Science Department’s mission while teaching beginner through advanced level courses in Chemistry for grades 9-12. We seek an individual who is dynamic, professional, and able to deliver high-quality student-engaging instruction. Candidates may also have the opportunity to design and teach elective courses in the Department. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the position includes advising and leading experiential learning for students. Depending on the candidate’s interests and the needs of the School, the position may include additional opportunities such as coaching and/or other co-curricular activities. 

Job Requirements:

Ideal candidates will possess a bachelor’s degree in chemistry or a closely related field and a master’s degree is desirable. Candidates will have, at a minimum, two years of teaching experience, high school rubric. The ideal candidate will have a desire to work with Upper School students in a supportive college-preparatory environment. Candidates should possess basic computer literacy for both administrative and instructional purposes, strong interpersonal, and written communications skills. Knowledge of Quaker history and education is desirable, but not required.

Physical Requirements: The ability to navigate stairs as part of daily routines; mobility around a large campus with uneven pavement; bending and squatting as required to participate in activities; lifting/carrying boxes up to 25 pounds; and the ability to maneuver as necessary within a regular classroom and office setting.
