Job Description: Substitute Teacher
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To teach Elementary k-4, Middle school, and 9-12 grade at-risk charter school students the basic learning skills and subject matter. Commensurate with their emotional, physical, and intellectual needs as set forth in the course of study in a Community School class.
To provide specialized instructional activities for pupils with a special education classroom setting.
To maintain and reinforce appropriate pupil behavior, attitudes, and social skills.
Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
May perform related duties such as sponsoring one or more activities or student in adjustment and academic problems.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES (NONE)
QUALIFICATIONS
Must hold a valid California teaching credential or hold a B.A. and have passed the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST) in order to qualify for a 30 day substitute permit. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the functions.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
The ability of a teacher to speak a language other than English is ordinarily considered a teaching advantage; however, teachers are expected to speak and write English correctly, clearly, and fluently.
