What You’ll Do

English Language Arts teachers at New Visions schools work with a diverse range of students to develop content knowledge and skills through exploration/experimentation, reading, discussion, and writing.  English Language Arts teachers at New Visions schools will:

  • Prepare all students for success with New York State Regents English exams
  • Place an equal emphasis on developing critical thinkers by inviting students to ask questions, carry out discussions, and analyze texts
  • Help students to master core academic content, think critically and solve complex problems, work collaboratively, communicate effectively, learn how to learn, and develop academic mindsets

Job Requirements:

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required; Master’s degree is preferred
  • A valid New York State English Language Arts Certification 
  • Proven track record for planning lessons with clear learning objectives and a means for assessing whether those objectives have been met
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Demonstrated content knowledge and familiarity with Common Core State Standards
  • Demonstrated success in tailoring instruction to the needs of diverse learners
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve common goals
  • Experience working with educational technology
