Job Description:

For those who want to help improve literacy and build language skills.

The Indiana University Bloomington School of Educations Literacy, Culture, and Language Education programs prepare for a career as a leading literacy and language educator.

In this program you’ll build upon your knowledge and improve your skills through an understanding of the essential integration of literacy, culture, and language. You’ll also apply research-based knowledge in practice with opportunities in formal and informal settings. Because research is such an important component of our curriculum, you’ll be working alongside nationally and internationally recognized scholars as you dive into the world of literacy, culture, and language education.

Online offers include:

  1. Master’s (M.S.Ed.) in Literacy, Culture, and Language Education
Whether you want to be a language or literacy teacher in-school or out-of-school settings or a writer and editor of instructional materials, you’ll gain a more nuanced understanding about the deep integration of literacy, culture, and language across learning contexts. Through this program, you’ll learn how to assess student performance and apply research knowledge to classroom experiences. And with the option to complete the program on campus or online, you’ll have more control over your schedule.

  1. Doctorate (Ed.D.) in Literacy, Culture, and Language Education
Expand your professional opportunities as you deepen your expertise in literacy and language education. This 60-credit hour program prepares literacy and language practitioners for leadership positions in the field and provides an unparalleled environment for continual learning with colleagues who share your passion. The program features a holistic and integrative focus on preparing practitioner leaders in literacy and language to better understand and address 21st century issues and challenges.

  2. Certificate in EFL/ESL Teaching or Teacher Preparation
