Job Description:

We are a rapidly expanding, innovative financial services organization seeking to add a top-flight Junior Instructional Designer to our team. The Junior Instructional Designer will report to our Training Department Manager. He/she will work with the Training Department team, Senior Leadership, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to apply the full range of the (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, Evaluate) process and SAM agile process, to produce instructor-led, self-paced, and eLearning curricula which is grounded in contemporary and emerging adult-learning theories and best practices which will further transform and grow the Clarity 2 Prosperity financial services training and internal corporate training. Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality of corporate information


Core Responsibilities

(20%) Project Management, Training Delivery, and Miscellaneous Tasks)

  • Plan, schedule and track projects, maintaining aggressive deadlines and communicate/overcome issues/risks/roadblocks in a timely manner, within prescribed intent and plans

  • Present recommendations and designs and reports on project status

  • Work with vendors in creating learning components

  • Work closely with vendor's Instructional Systems Designer(s) to assist with the production and editing audio, video, multimedia training content

(80%) Curriculum, Content Research, Design, and Writing

  • Work with SMEs and learners to identify training needs (gaps) and then build quality, measurable learning objectives to eliminate or mitigate those gaps

  • Design high-impact, criterion-based learning experience to improve team member performance that is reflected in business results

  • Research and identify appropriate delivery approaches, training methodologies, and technologies

  • Develop training material to optimize the use of technology and ensure appropriate delivery methods for adult learners

  • Establish training program/course learning objectives and develop valid and reliable assessment tools to measure the effectiveness of those objectives, as well as the content built to teach them

  • Apply the instructional design process ( or SAM to all projects, yet remain flexible enough to complete projects with pre-established timeframes and budgets

  • Assist the Senior Level Instructional Designers with creating storyboards, trainers' notes, participant materials, video, and multimedia scripts/other documents

  • Other duties and projects will be assigned a needed


  • BA/BS degree in Curriculum, Adult Learning, Training and Development, Learning and Development, or a closely aligned field

  • Two (1) to three (3) years of experience in applying the, SAM (or similar instructional Design methodology) process to build adult learning programs and content (experience with corporate universities a plus)

  • One (1) to two (2) years of experience with using or managing an LMS (eg Black Board, Moodle, Canvas Instructure, Cornerstone OnDemand, etc. a strong plus

  • Understanding of technical, financial services, and systems writing a strong plus

  • Demonstrated ability to logically organize complex information and to then transform it into professionally designed, engaging, and effective adult learning programs

  • ADT certifications a strong plus

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are an absolute must

  • Strong record-keeping and critical thinking skills are needed

  • The ability to think abstractly, yet analyze linearly a strong plus

  • Mastery in PowerPoint required

  • Strong design skills utilizing Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign a strong plus

  • Intermediate skills with eLearning authoring software such as Articulate Studio and Articulate Storyline a strong plus

  • Familiarity with Adobe Captivate 5.5 or higher, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Audition, Articulate Replay, Snag-it is a plus

  • Must have the ability to work as part of a team with decentralized team members, to balance multiple tasks/objectives, and to have high levels of flexibility in an unusually fast-paced environment

  • Proven ability to collaborate with others, including team members, supervisors and managers, and to work effectively with employees at all levels across multiple departments

  • Must have the ability to collect, interpret, and summarize data

  • Experience in building franchise training programs will be a strong plus

  • Experience and high comfort level with public speaking and presenting instruction a strong plus


  • Must be detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy

  • Impeccable ability to maintain strict confidentiality of corporate information

  • Must be able to apply tact when dealing with others

  • Demonstrate initiative and a results-based orientation

  • Ability to effectively interact with staff and clients at all levels in a fast-paced environment with a high level of professionalism

  • Ability to think on his/her feet

  • Must be comfortable with multi-tasking, able to manage multi-step procedures, handle frequent interruptions in work flow, and able to prioritize in a fast-paced environment

  • Exhibits professionalism and composure in stressful situations and in meeting short deadlines

  • Must be technologically savvy
